dmp file and blue screen error windows 7
Hi, I'm wondering if anyone can tell me how to read the dmp file created after the blue screen appears. I recently upgraded my Toshiba P300 from Vista 64 bit to Windows 7 Home Premium 64 bit. I don't know why Windows 7 keeps crashing and so far I have no idea how to open the .dmp file (I zipped the dmp file and attached it below). http://cid-7a99d6152c55359c.skydrive.live.com/self.aspx/.Public/minidump/022710-26223-01.zip The message I got so far is: Problem signature: Problem event name: BlueScreen OS version : 6.1.7600. : C:\Windows\Minidump\022710-26223-01.dmp C:\Users\Karolina\AppData\Local\Temp\WER-125393-0.sysdata.xml

The minidump showed that the driver that caused the crash was klim6.sys, which is a driver from Kaspersky. I would suggest uninstalling Kaspersky and seeing if the BSODs are resolved. Then you can consider reinstalling Kaspersky with the latest version. By the way, a useful application for reading minidump files is BlueScreenView: http://www.nirsoft.net/utils/blue_screen_view.html However, using WinDbg with Debugging Tools for Windows may provide more complete information. Debugging tools for Windows can be downloaded from the following link: http://www.microsoft.com/whdc/devtools/debugging/default.mspx The following link has a tutorial on configuring WinDbg, setting the prompt path and using !analyze -v : http://www.sevenforums.com/crash-lockup-debug-how/26584-2-intermediate-configuring-debugging-tools.html

Hi Auggy, I need your help. what to check in BlueScreenView. As per your previous post, I am trying to verify the displayed BSOD caused by the driver ntkrnlpa.exe.Dhiraj

ntkrnlpa.exe is not the cause of the crash. Using WinDbg from the debug tools for Windows, you can identify the actual driver causing the crash. If you want, can you compress the minidump files and share them (provide a link) via Windows Live SkyDrive or a similar site? The following link provides information on using Windows Live SkyDrive: http://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/en-US/w7itproui/thread/4fc10639-02db-4665-993a-08d865088d65

Thanks for your quick response, Auggy.WinDBG shown below. This is usually caused by drivers using the wrong addresses. If a kernel debugger is available, download the stack trace. Since the problematic driver has not been identified, try updating all third-party drivers. If the problem persists, consider enabling "Driver Verifier" in all non-Microsoft drivers to test them and try to remove the problematic driver: Start > type verifier in programs and files search and press "Enter" > Create Standard Configuration > Next > Select the driver names from the list > then select all non-Microsoft drivers > Finish. Restart your computer. Continue using your computer as normal, but if you experience any BSODs, check the minidump file(s). If after enabling Driver Verifier and restarting your computer, you get a BSOD at startup and you cannot start Windows, restart your computer in "Safe Mode" and do the following: Start > type verifier in Search programs and files and press "Enter" > Delete existing Configuration > Finish Restart your computer, log on to normal mode and check the resulting minidump file.

Of these errors, two drivers are listed as failing: the first error is tmevtmgr.sys (Trend Micro driver) and the second is agnfilt.sys (AT&T Global Network Firewall). The second error seems to indicate that agnfilt.sys caused TMBMSRV.exe (Trend Micro Service) to crash. I would suggest uninstalling the AT&T Global Network Firewall and seeing if stability improves. Otherwise, uninstall Trend Micro. I would also suggest postponing the activation of Driver Verifier.

Hi, I have an hp pavilion dv5 and it gave me a lot of blue screen issues last summer. So now when I switched to Win7 from Vista Home Basic it still hasn't stopped. It gives me a problem with the BUGCODE_NSID driver. Blue screen error 0x0000007C. Today was the second time. And I accidentally switched to LAN to use wifi. Gentlemen, sorry to clutter the thread, but I need help. Here is what I got after running winDBg. Am I correct in assuming the error is below FAULTING_IP? The error seems to come from the display driver or DirectX component. you can try below. Update display driver Install latest Windows updates Run Dhiraj memory diagnostics

If problems persist, consider reinstalling both your graphics card and physical RAM. There also seems to be a BIOS update available for the motherboard (P8Z68-V PRO GEN3) that you might want to consider as well.

Hi dmrkn, The driver that seems to be causing the crash is windrvNT.sys:BUCKET_ID: 0x8E_windrvNT+1703. WindrvNT.sys, dated May 10, 2004, appears to be the driver for Folder Lock. The process that has been blocked is themaPoster.exe. Can you try to update or, if necessary, uninstall Folder Lock and see if that solves the problem? The same error was discussed at the following link: http://poster.freddy.lt/forum/viewtopic.php?f=4&t=1523 At this link it seemed to be McAfee's fault, however you are using Avast and not McAfee . However, if Avast has recently updated and this problem started recently, Avast may be the cause of the problem.

So I tried uninstalling HP ProtectSmart Hard Drive and that wouldn't let me either. So I checked how to do it and found this other link: http://www.techsupportforum.com/forums/f299/solved-usb-stops-working-bsod-on-win7-64-bit-486221.html which you mentioned about the WD SANS drive. Since I have a MyBookWorld drive, I decided to uninstall it and you know? Everything works again! I don't see the drive as one of my devices, but I mapped a drive to it and it works perfectly. I reinstalled AVG and heard that this could be a problem too. I hope this information can help someone else.

It may be helpful to review the mini crash dump files with a debugger. In Safe Mode, can you zip the minidump files to C:\Windows\Minidump and then share them (provide a link) via Windows Live SkyDrive or a similar site? ?Following link for information on using Windows Live SkyDrive:http://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/en-US/w7itproui/thread/4fc10639-02db-4665-993a-08d865088d65If you are having trouble compressing the minidump copy the minidump files to another location, such as a folder on your desktop. Thanks Auggy, I have Debut installed which comes with NCH and uses stdriver64.sys. It's an important program so I'll try to upgrade or downgrade it to see if I can get a more stable version. For now, I moved the stdriver64.sys files from the Debut install location in hopes that might help. I will also use CCleaner professional to clean the registry and see if that helps too. Thank you.

So I'm on a fresh windows install, everything seems to be working fine. The first thing that happens is that the physical memory usage goes up to 97% and no process was using anywhere near that amount (8GB). Rebooting fixed the problem, but I've never had this before. After a few hours of normal use, the video editing program seems to run slower than it used to, and then a blue screen appears saying IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL or something like that. Here is the .dmp file of this crash, if anyone could help me out with the cause and possible solution, I'd appreciate it. http://www50.zippyshare.com/v/68932209/file.html

More general information on this error: http://mikemstech.blogspot.com/2011/11/how-to-troubleshoot-blue-screen-0xa.html The debugger indicates that this is probably caused by AVG Antivirus/Intrusion Detection System software. Based on the information in the prompt, the AVG driver is from 2011. I recommend checking for AVG updates. Hi Auggy, I used WinDbg to view my memory dump, the "probable" cause of the failure is the ataport.sys file. I'm not sure if it's true or not, but I get a BSOD at least once a day. Installed SIW and fixed many major issues but still crashes. I don't know if restoring the ATA driver is the best idea, so I haven't tried it myself, just want to double check before messing around with port drivers.
